Historical Backgrounds
This is the place to find historical backgrounds for some of the wargames periods and battles that we have enjoyed playing. If you feel inspired and want to see an article of your own in print then please contact us via the contact page. Full battle reports will appear of any battle featured on this page.
The following will I hope eventually become an exhaustive list of coat colours for the major sides of the English Civil war, born from my own frustration at not finding such a list anywhere else. Whilst some regiments may have had the same coat colour and colonel throughout the war other regiments would have changed coat colours and/or colonel from time to time when necessary. The list is a result of many hours of trawling through books and the internet for any snippets of information that I could gather on coat colours since I started collecting wargames figures for the period over the last 35 years or so. Having said that I am in no doubt that it will evolve and be subject to many changes and additions as time goes by, but for now here are the initial offerings.
